Introducing Our Interactive Tool

To help you find these opportunities, I have developed an interactive tool inspired by our blog on Strategies for Achieving the Magic Number of 150. This tool evaluates the strength and diversity of your professional network by identifying key contacts and connections between them. You can download it here.

Using the Network Diagnostic Worksheet

  1. Important Contacts: List the names of the most important contacts in your network-- people you rely on for the exchange of private information, specialized expertise, advice, and creative inspiration. 
  2. Who Introduced Me?: Write the name of the person who introduced you to your contact (if you met the person yourself, write "me.") 
  3. Who Did I Introduce Them To?: Write the name of someone you introduced to your key contact. This column will demonstrate how you act as a broker for others. 

Analyzing Your Network

Once your data is filled in, look at the number of times "me" appears in the center column. If you've introduced yourself to your key contacts more than 65% of the time, then your network may be too inbred. A diverse network is crucial for uncovering new opportunities and fostering innovation. 

Remember, "It's not what you know, but who you know." And even more importantly, "who knows you!"
